Newark Public Library to
Host NJ MAKERS DAY Event with
Finch Robots, Marble Run Race & Makers Space

Bring the Kids Saturday,  March 19, 11 am – 3 pm

Come out and meet the Dream It. Do It. New Jersey Team and learn about our programs.

This Saturday, NJIT will assist the Newark Public Library with robots, marbles, and more. There will be a “robotic race” setup featuring three, small Finch robots on the main floor. Students will be able to program the robots to follow a designated path to the finish line. There will also be a “marble run” for students who will construct unique paths for marbles to follow. Many other engaging events such as food preparation activity hosted by ShopRite, a button making station, and several other makers experiences will add to the exciting mix. Come on out and make something!

DIDI-NJ: What’s So Cool About Manufacturing Video Contest is Underway!

This student contest is designed to dispel the outdated image of manufacturing and to show it as it is, a spotless, safe and sustainable work environment consistent in the high-tech field of today’s advanced manufacturing.

Middle school student teams from New Jersey school districts will take a teacher and a video camera kit into local manufacturing companies to create a two-and-a-half minute video capturing what they think is cool about the company’s products, workforce, and technology.  In June, the team’s videos will be judged and winners will be declared.
Participating schools are –

  • McKinley No.10 Elementary School, North Bergen
  • Fieldstone Middle School, Montvale
  • Catholic Partnership Schools, Camden
  • Louise A. Spencer Elementary School, Newark
  • Hazlet Middle School, Hazlet
