And the”What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” Video Competition Winner is… Louise A. Spencer School and Unionwear!

June 22, 2016, as part of a Dream It. Do It. NJ initiative, during the weeks leading up to summer break, middle school teams from New Jersey school districts along with a teacher and a GoPro video camera kit toured local manufacturing companies.  Teams were there to create a two-and-a-half minute video capturing what they thought was cool about the company’s products, workforce, and technology.

From June 18-20 competing videos were hosted on dreamitdoitnj.com where online voting took place for the general public. A separate panel of judges made up of James Keehbler -Piscataway Public Library. JoAnn Mitchell – Sandvik Coromant US, BJ Dowlen – BodyWorks, John Kennedy – NJMEP, and Cory Booker – NJ Senator voting as well.

During a dazzling awards event on June 22 at NJIT, all submitted videos were watched, speakers addressed the group about manufacturing opportunities and jobs, and the winning team was announced. That winning team received an awesome “What’s so Cool about Manufacturing?” trophy and all the students received a special medallion.  A celebratory dessert reception followed.
